The desks of great minds are often messy: Albert Einstein, Mark Twain, Roald Dahl and Steve Jobs are among those whose workspaces were piled up with papers, pens and paraphernalia.  Although office managers often promote a tidy desk ethic to ensure their employees’ productivity, a series of six studies in Germany found that messy desks compel us to cut through the clutter and think more clearly.
