Marie Dessuant was born in 1984 in Paris, she works and lives in Paris. In 2008, she graduated with distinction from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg in product design (MA). She wrote a thesis about “wandering in daily life” and designed a product collection entitled objets vagues. Afterwards, she worked in Shanghai and collaborated with studios like Naço architecture and EXH… She settled in Paris in 2010 and is now a freelance designer. She was awarded the Cinna-Ligne Roset design award “révélateur de talents” for the étagère de coin, which is now produced by Cinna - Ligne Roset. She is now resident as product designer in Fabrica in Italy.
She envisions design as a way to observe her surroundings, a way of seeing, a way of showing. She experiments with a large scope of practices (product, furniture, space, graphic design, drawing, concept…) Beyond those forms, she is trying to develop new ways of interacting with objects. Using those new typologies, or modified details in traditional product, she is trying not to impose anything to the user, not to say too much, not to be too narrative. Her projects aim to raise questions rather than to give solutions.
