Hungarian born writer, philosopher, and political activist Arthur Koestler was known for his unconventional and fierce brilliance. A Zionist in his youth, Koestler lived in Palestine, then, working as a journalist, began traveling the world. He was captured by Franco’s forces during the Spanish Civil War, went on to serve in the French Foreign Legion, and was interned in a German concentration camp before finally settling in England. |
