What Does Lust Look Like?

PHOTO COMPETITION FINALISTS

Grand Prize: Val Proudkii, American
Category: Journalism
Title: Rain
Date: May 2005
Location: Barcelona, Spain
Technical Information:
Camera: Nikon D70 // Lens: Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX HSM // Colors and contrast adjustments in Photoshop

- I was trying to capture all of the emotions and feelings that this young woman is going through. She was so absorbed with her emotions that she did not see anything outside of her. She sat still for about 3 minutes, not even slightly moving. The rain and the rain drops on the window also enhance the overall aspect of this photograph. I intentionally left the other gentleman in this picture. Two different worlds are captured in this single shot.
Grand Prize: William Carpenter, Alan Messer Photographers

-Lust looks like a hand moving throught the mysterous geometries of someone else's body. Trying to discover a secret, the hand finds its real pleasure in realising that it will never get its aim.

Honorable Mention: Nicole Lorenti, Italian American

- The car, for decades has been a symbol of lust. Prince's song, Little Red corvette is an example of the vehicle facilitating lust and excitement. Red in most Western cultures is associated with stimulation and sexuality. The fast car is very often used as a metaphor for an orgasmic experience. Lust is that lipstick red shining after it's just been waxed. Lust is the light, gently cascading on the body of the car. Lust is walking by this ride and knowing the only part thats mine is this photo.
Honorable Mention: Romulo B. Sans, Spanish
