I've found out that from 1975 to 1999 the Lebanese people would hide in toilets during the civil war bombings. Not having windows, they were the safest place to hide in. In 2008 Nada Shanaoui, a Lebanese artist, installed 600 toilets in downtown Beirut to remember those days.
