The Global Day of Action (GDA), a traditional and important event at UNFCCC COPs. took place in Durban on Saturday, 3rd December 2011.
Marching in principle, running on faith, and embracing hope through dialogue, the participants, drawn from international and national communities, labour, women, youth, academic, religious and environmental organisations, demonstrated civil society's common determination to prevent turbulent and catastrophic climate change.
Full of colour and vibrancy, this collective cultural transmission was marked by all sorts of visual puns and hard truths, on banners, posters and T shirts. A clear indication of what is possible when we all work together. Now let's hope the message gets across to our respective Talking Heads who formulate policy and make decisions.
