Standing by

Open

I began photographing messengers in Toronto a couple years ago. There is long history of messengers here and I really wanted to capture the faces and quiet moments in between the chaotic and blurred existence of the bike messenger.

This is a tight community, but like any other, there are cliques and crowds and divisions that exist.

There are new faces that appear just as frequently as old faces disappear, and so this series will have a mix of the past and the present. And although many of those that appear are riding fixed, this is by no means a "fixed gear" project.

This is a documentation of people working on bikes, and the time that is spent in between calls.

Thank you to those who were kind enough to stand around and let me take your picture.

There are more images on my website, and this is by no means a finished piece of work.
