Since Vladimir Putin first became president of Russia, he has tranquilized a tiger, recovered ancient Greek ceramics from the sea and migrated with wild cranes.

After two years of diving for evidence of the city of Phanagoria in the Taman Gulf, Russia, archaeologists could only come up with shards. Until August 2011, when Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin put on a diving suit and fished out two ancient Greek amphorae from shallow waters within minutes. Questioned later about the find, he is reported to have said, “Then they all started shouting that the amphorae were planted. Well of course they were planted!”
