Forced Eviction, South Korea

After five decades of autocratic rule, on June 26, 1987, more than 1 million South Koreans in 34 cities took to the streets, forcing the government to hold a democratic presidential election. They haven’t stopped protesting since: South Korea is now the country with the highest number of protests in Asia  and, every year, nearly 2,000 South Korean riot policemen are injured on duty.
