Tanzania’s more than 100,000 albinos risk their lives every time they walk down the street, as albino body parts are believed to possess magic powers and so command huge sums on the black market. Murder and discrimination are common. To draw attention to the problem, a group of albino men created Albino United, but the football club struggles in the third division: albinism causes eye and skin sensitivity to light, making practice difficult.

The team’s founders initially called themselves Albino Magic, but soon changed the name to avoid trouble with the nation’s witchcraft industry.
